Assistants that know your material and stay within clear limits

An AI assistant is only as useful as the information it can reach and the boundaries it works within. We build assistants that answer from your documents with sources, and agents that carry out specific actions — such as creating a ticket or drafting an email — with permissions and approval steps you control.

AI agents and assistants

Assistants that answer from your own knowledge and take defined actions in your tools.

Discuss an AI assistant

Where assistants help

  • The same internal questions are answered again and again.
  • Knowledge is spread across documents, wikis and inboxes.
  • Customers ask routine questions outside working hours.
  • Multi-step tasks follow the same pattern but still need someone to click through them.

Who it's for

  • Teams with a growing body of documentation and repeated internal questions.
  • Businesses wanting a customer-facing assistant with a safe hand-off to people.
  • Individuals who want a personal assistant built around their own notes and tools.

What you receive

Typical deliverables. The exact list is confirmed in your proposal and Statement of Work.

  • Use-case definition: what the assistant may and may not do.
  • Knowledge ingestion pipeline for the agreed sources.
  • Assistant interface: web widget, workspace app (e.g. Slack or Teams) or internal page.
  • Answers with source references where retrieval is used.
  • Action permissions, approval steps and audit log for agents.
  • Evaluation set, monitoring and an owner's guide.

Example use cases

Illustrations of the kind of work this covers — not descriptions of past client projects.

  • Businesses

    Internal knowledge assistant

Staff ask questions about policies and procedures and get answers with links to the source documents.

  • Businesses

    Website help assistant

Answers common customer questions from approved content and hands over to a person when unsure.

  • Businesses

    Operations agent

Prepares draft orders, tickets or follow-up emails for a person to approve.

  • Individuals

    Personal knowledge base

An assistant over your own notes, documents and bookmarks.

How the work runs

  1. Define

Purpose, audience, sources, actions and the limits of the assistant.

  2. Prepare knowledge

Select, clean and structure the sources it may use.

  3. Build

    Retrieval, prompts, tools and interface.

  4. Evaluate

Test against agreed questions, including ones it should refuse.

  5. Launch and monitor

Gradual roll-out with feedback and review of logs.

Technologies and integrations

Examples of what we commonly use. We choose per project and don't imply partnerships with any vendor.

Assistant layer
  • LLM APIs with tool use
  • Retrieval-augmented generation
Interfaces
  • Web chat widget
  • Slack or Microsoft Teams apps
  • Internal web apps
Sources
  • Google Drive, SharePoint, Notion, Confluence and similar — subject to API access

Dependencies and limitations

  • Assistants can make mistakes or misread sources; customer-facing use needs clear disclosure and a route to a person.
  • Agents only perform actions explicitly granted to them; we recommend approval steps for anything irreversible.
  • Source systems must provide API access with appropriate permissions.
  • Under the EU AI Act and similar rules, some uses carry transparency obligations; we flag these, and legal advice may be needed.

AI agents and assistants: questions

Will the assistant make things up?

It can. We reduce this by grounding answers in your sources, showing references, instructing it to say when it doesn't know, and testing with questions it should decline.

Can it take actions in our systems?

Yes, within the permissions you approve. We start with read-only access and add actions with approval steps.

Do customers need to know they're talking to AI?

We recommend clear disclosure in all cases, and it can be a legal requirement. The interface is designed to make it obvious.

Thinking about an assistant?

Tell us who would use it and what it should know. We'll outline a contained first version.
